Irvine Students Housing, Inc. (ISHI) was officially incorporated in 1975. It was formed by students at the University of California, Irvine, in an effort to establish cooperative housing as a low cost alternative to existing on-campus housing. Residents conducted their own management, cooking, cleaning and maintenance.
